Breaking: Packers star Jayden Reed finally addresses rumors of agent questioning front office

The Green Bay Packers used a first-round pick on a wide receiver for the first time in over 20 years, sparking speculation about how the team’s receiving hierarchy might shift in 2025. After reports surfaced that Jayden Reed’s agent questioned the Packers’ front office about the move, Reed has now provided some clarity.

While speaking with reporters during OTAs, Reed explained that the situation was misunderstood and stemmed from the transition to a new agent. According to Reed, his new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, simply reached out to general manager Brian Gutekunst to ensure alignment moving forward.

“A lot of people misunderstood the situation,” Reed said. “I brought on a new agent, and we discussed this before the draft. He told me he’d be reaching out to the front office just to touch base and make sure everyone was aligned. That was always the plan. I’m not sure how the conversation became public — it was meant to remain private — but that’s how things go sometimes. People hear bits and pieces and form their own interpretations, which is fair.”

The Packers’ decision to select Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third suggests Reed’s share of the offense might be impacted. Still, it’s reasonable for the 25-year-old receiver to have questions about his role, especially after an up-and-down 2024 season. He started strong, averaging over 81 scrimmage yards per game in the first nine weeks, but that number dipped to just over 36 yards per game from Weeks 11 through 18.

Despite that decline, there’s no clear indication that Reed’s standing on the team is threatened. Williams is expected to be used situationally, possibly filling in for the injured Christian Watson, while Golden appears to be a longer-term replacement for Romeo Doubs. Reed, who is under contract through 2026 with a $1.402 million base salary in 2025, may not be in line for an extension just yet, but his role in Green Bay’s offense remains stable for now.
