Breaking: Done deal!! Packers officially sign another offensive weapon and breakout star

The Green Bay Packers have signed another wide receiver, an undrafted rookie free agent, to bolster their depth and add veteran collegiate experience to their receiving corps. Brown brings a wealth of experience from his time at West Virginia, Houston, and most recently, Miami.

Measuring 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, he recently took part in the Miami Dolphins’ rookie minicamp. Over his college career, he played in 43 games with 28 starts, compiling 149 catches for 1,903 yards and nine touchdowns. His participation in the Dolphins’ camp may have helped keep his NFL aspirations alive.

Sam Brown Jr. began his collegiate journey at West Virginia before transferring to Houston, where he became a key part of the Cougars’ passing game. He spent two seasons at Houston and was teammates with Packers first-round pick Matthew Golden. In his first year with Houston, he recorded 41 receptions for 471 yards and four touchdowns. He had a breakout season in 2023, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention after posting 62 catches for 815 yards.

He wrapped up his college career at Miami in 2024, where he appeared in 12 games and started nine. That season, he totaled 36 receptions for 509 yards and two touchdowns. His standout performance came against Louisville, where he notched three catches for 125 yards and a score, earning ACC Receiver of the Week honors.

Athletically, Brown impressed scouts with a 4.44-second 40-yard dash and a vertical leap of 41.5 inches—among the top marks for wide receivers in his class. He’ll wear jersey No. 17 for the Packers, a number once worn by standout receiver Davante Adams.
