Breaking News: Bruins Mega Trade Acquires $31 Million Star Forward in Blockbuster

The Boston Bruins had a rough season, finishing as one of the NHL’s bottom teams. Despite the setback, the organization has been vocal about its intent to bounce back and be a contender next year.

On the fan-driven trade simulation site PuckPedia, one user crafted a bold hypothetical trade involving the Bruins and the Dallas Stars, centered around star forward Jason Robertson.

This deal would be a major shakeup, with Boston acquiring a proven elite scorer in exchange for a top prospect, a current roster player, and two high-value draft picks.

Robertson, who would instantly slot into Boston’s top line, is in the final year of a four-year, $31 million contract and due for a hefty extension. He posted 35 goals and 45 assists for 80 points in 82 games this season, with a career-high of 109 points in 2022–23.

To land Robertson, Boston would part with the 7th overall pick in this year’s draft, another future first-rounder, and promising winger Fabian Lysell, who was a top pick in 2021. Lysell had a brief stint in the NHL this past season, recording 3 points in 12 games. Geekie, a pending RFA who scored 57 points in 77 games, would also head to Dallas, offering them immediate NHL help.

Proposed Trade:

To Bruins:

  • Jason Robertson

To Stars:

  • Fabian Lysell

  • Morgan Geekie

  • 2025 first-round pick (7th overall)

  • 2026 first-round pick

Robertson Linked to Trade Rumors

Despite his importance to the Stars, Jason Robertson’s name has surfaced in trade discussions following another early playoff exit for Dallas. NHL insider Jeff Marek (DailyFaceoff) mentioned him as a potential trade chip, suggesting Dallas might consider moving him to regain draft capital and free up cap space. He noted the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks as possible suitors and speculated about a broader shakeup involving names like Mitch Marner.

Should Robertson become available, he would be among the most sought-after players on the market.

Bruins Aiming for a Rebound

The Bruins are expected to be aggressive this offseason, with leadership confident that the down year was an outlier. CEO Charlie Jacobs believes the team will return to playoff contention next season.

“I truly believe—with our current roster, once healthy, and with the additions we plan to make this summer—we’ll be a playoff team and playing meaningful hockey again by this time next year,” Jacobs said.

Before missing the playoffs this season, Boston had made the postseason for eight consecutive years, and the organization appears determined to return quickly to that level.
