Once a standout cornerback for the Buffalo Bills and one of the NFL’s elite, earned All-Pro honors and played a pivotal role in the team’s rise to prominence in the AFC.
However, injuries began to take their toll on the former LSU star, eventually leading to his departure.
Now, after spending a few seasons away, White is returning to familiar territory.
The veteran has signed a one-year contract to rejoin the Bills, the team that originally drafted him. Eager to contribute once more, White is prepared to adapt to the current system and reestablish himself as a vital part of the defense.
During his Tuesday press conference at OTAs, Tre’Davious White shared that returning to head coach Sean McDermott’s defensive system wasn’t much of a challenge.
“It was easy to get back in,” White said. “The terminology is still the same. There are a few slight changes in some of the techniques compared to my first stint here. But overall, I was already familiar with about 90% of it. The remaining 10% was just learning the updated techniques in certain coverages.”
White is set to compete for a roster spot this season, aiming to line up opposite Christian Benford. To reclaim a starting role, he’ll need to outperform first-round rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston.
He’s fully aware of the challenge ahead. But while the Bills are focused on getting younger on defense, White isn’t ready to surrender his old position without a fight.
