Breaking: Packers Trade Confirms the Departure of Quality Weapon to Hated Rival

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be in the market for another wide receiver before the 2025 season begins.

After trading star wideout George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the offseason, the Steelers may look to bring in a new receiver to fill the gap.

In a recent article, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport named a player from each NFL team who could be on the trade block ahead of the 2025 season. For the Green Bay Packers, he suggested wide receiver Romeo Doubs, noting that Pittsburgh could be a logical landing spot.

“There are plenty of teams struggling in the passing game—Pittsburgh included—so if the Packers choose to shop Doubs, finding a trade partner shouldn’t be too difficult,” Davenport wrote.

With Aaron Rodgers planning to sign with Pittsburgh, the Steelers have solidified their quarterback situation and are now focused on surrounding him with quality weapons. They’ve already acquired DK Metcalf in a trade with the Seahawks.

But is that enough?

Doubs posted 601 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2024 despite starting only 12 games—a respectable performance. Green Bay also drafted Texas receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of the 2025 draft, giving them a deep pool of young talent at the position.

That could leave Doubs as the odd man out.

If Green Bay decides to move the 25-year-old receiver, Pittsburgh may be among the teams interested in making a deal. Adding more weapons for their new quarterback should be a top priority for the Steelers.
