Breaking News: Kings Confirms Major Trade For Key Positions Young Guard, Veteran Center in 3-Team Deal

The Sacramento Kings are heading into a pivotal offseason, with a major decision looming: should they initiate a full rebuild or continue building around their core trio?

Following another underwhelming campaign that ended with a ninth-place finish in the Western Conference and a Play-In Tournament loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the franchise finds itself at a crossroads.

In an effort to change their trajectory, the Kings may be forced to consider parting ways with one of their key players as they reassess the future direction of the team.

With that context, a blockbuster three-team trade that could reshape the Kings’ roster. In the deal, Sacramento would send Domantas Sabonis to the Atlanta Hawks and, in return, acquire a promising young point guard and a seasoned center from the Portland Trail Blazers. The proposed trade also involves the Hawks, making it a multi-team effort to address each franchise’s roster needs.

In Raman’s proposed trade, the Kings would receive Deandre Ayton and Scoot Henderson from the Trail Blazers, along with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft (via Atlanta) and an unprotected 2029 first-round pick from Portland.

The Trail Blazers would land Domantas Sabonis, while the Hawks would acquire Jake LaRavia in a sign-and-trade deal.

It would be a bold, blockbuster move for Sacramento—but one that could be strategically sound as they look to retool around younger talent and set up a more sustainable future.

With the Kings urgently needing a point guard following their trade of De’Aaron Fox at the deadline, acquiring Scoot Henderson would address that void while also providing them with a young, high-upside player to anchor their future rebuild.

Deandre Ayton would step in as a replacement for Sabonis, offering a capable presence in the frontcourt. However, the former No. 1 overall pick has dealt with injuries and a decline in production in recent seasons, raising questions about his long-term impact.

Sacramento would also acquire two first-round picks in the trade—one in the upcoming 2025 draft and another unprotected pick in 2029—giving them valuable assets to either select promising young talent or leverage in future trades.

While parting ways with Domantas Sabonis would be a difficult decision, the return package could provide the Kings with a fresh foundation and a clearer path forward after years of underachievement.
