A 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback from Mission Viejo High School in Southern California, publicly committed to the University of Washington on Wednesday via social media. He’s the 15th high school recruit to commit to the Huskies for the 2026 class.
“He has great anticipation, impressive ball skills, and plays with physicality,” wrote Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, in a February scouting report. “He excels both in run defense and coverage, whether in press or off-man, and his complete skill set could allow him to contribute early in his college career.”
Jeron Jones was elevated to a four-star recruit on Wednesday by the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s now ranked No. 36 in California, No. 31 among cornerbacks, and No. 370 nationally. He becomes the Huskies’ sixth composite blue-chip commit, joining offensive lineman Kodi Greene, edge rusher Derek Colman-Brusa, wideout Mason James, safety Gavin Day, and quarterback Derek Zammit.
According to 247Sports’ in-house rankings, Jones is rated even higher—No. 32 in California and the No. 25 cornerback in the nation.
He chose Washington after official visits to Arizona State, Cal, and Texas A&M. He also held offers from major programs including Alabama, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, USC, and others.
Jones has been playing varsity football since his freshman year, compiling 142 total tackles (2.5 for loss), 25 pass deflections, 11 interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 36 games, per MaxPreps. He also ran track during his first two years of high school.
In his junior year alone, Jones posted 51 tackles, six pass breakups, and three interceptions across 11 games.
“He has a background in track and can keep up with any receiver downfield,” Biggins added. “With his size, instincts, and athleticism, Jones is a high-upside national-level recruit.”
Jones is the third recruit from Washington’s June 6 official visit weekend to commit. Four-star receiver Mason James (North Norman High, Oklahoma) committed a day later, and three-star tight end Sam Vyhlidal (Mountainside High, Oregon) followed on June 10.
Washington is still in the running for several other players who visited that same weekend, including four-star edge rusher Tristian Givens and three-star prospects Ezaya Tokio (linebacker), Kai Wesley (tight end), and Tufanua Ionatana Umu-Cais (defensive line). However, fellow visitor Fameitau Siale — a top-three in-state edge rusher — committed to Michigan State.
Jones also plays alongside four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford at Mission Viejo. Spafford, a Georgia commit, has been a longtime target of UW and visited the program on May 31. He ranks No. 10 in California, No. 9 among receivers, and No. 74 nationally.
Jones is part of a larger trend of Washington stocking up on cornerback talent for the 2026 cycle. Position coach John Richardson has also landed commitments from three-star corners Elijah Durr (Mount Tahoma High), Ksani Jiles (IMG Academy), and CJ Lavender (Mater Dei High).
Jones’ build is consistent with the other defensive back recruits. Durr and Jiles both stand around 6-foot, while Lavender is 5-11 and could project as a nickel. At 165 pounds, though, Jones may need to bulk up upon arriving at Washington — no current Husky cornerback is listed under 175 pounds heading into 2025.
He’ll join a position group set to undergo major turnover after the 2025 season, with presumed starters Ephesians Prysock and Tacario Davis expected to graduate, along with nickelback Dyson McCutcheon. Six corners have already left the program via the transfer portal, leaving behind a mostly untested group.

In 2026, the most experienced corner on the roster will likely be Leroy Bryant, who will be entering his fourth college season. The remaining depth will come from redshirt freshman Elias Johnson and true freshmen D’Aryhian Clemons, Ramonz Adams Jr., and Dylan Robinson.
