Leicester City Continue Preparations Despite Manager Vacancy
Leicester City may currently be without a manager following the dismissal of Ruud van Nistelrooy on Friday morning, but that hasn’t slowed their efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season. The Foxes are reportedly eyeing a free transfer for a former England international defender. The question is whether they can finalize the deal before rival clubs take notice.
New Manager at the King Power on the Horizon?
Reports suggest that former Everton and Burnley manager Sean Dyche is being seriously considered for the Leicester job, with some outlets claiming he’s open to the idea. However, other sources indicate that Dyche may not be interested in taking charge at the King Power Stadium.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl is another name heavily linked with the role. Though his contract reportedly includes a release clause, it may be beyond Leicester’s financial reach. Dyche, too, is expected to demand a significant salary.
Despite no formal negotiations being underway yet, Dyche and Rohl remain the leading candidates for the position. If I had to predict, I’d say the situation still has a twist in store—possibly ending with Rohl taking the job.
Leicester Target Ex-England Defender on Free Transfer
Even without a permanent manager in place and with a preseason friendly against Peterborough United set for July 5, Leicester are pressing ahead with their transfer plans for the 2025/26 campaign.
According to Football Insider, the club is working on a deal to sign Everton centre-back Michael Keane, whose contract is due to expire soon. Keane would arrive on a free transfer. While there may have been doubts about his suitability for the Premier League, he could prove to be a strong addition for a Championship campaign.
