Breaking: Sunderland Officially Confirm The Departure Of Another Top Quality Star With Real Experience

We are pleased to announce that the Dons have finalized the permanent signing of Sunderland goalkeeper Nathan Bishop on a three-year contract.

Nathan, 25, is a quality shot-stopper who has played more than 100 Football League games and considerably strengthens our goalkeeping department.

Nathan was born in Hillingdon, Greater London, and joined Southend United at an early age, swiftly rising to become one of the country’s top young goalkeepers.

His efforts in 39 appearances for the Essex club piqued the curiosity of some of England’s elite clubs, resulting in a much-discussed transfer to Manchester United in January 2020.

Nathan gained experience with the Red Devils, with a successful loan at Mansfield Town, which featured 53 appearances and a League Two Play-Off Final appearance, factoring into working alongside David de Gea, a world-class goalkeeper.

He then joined for Sunderland in 2023, followed by loan spells with Wycombe Wanderers and Cambridge United.

Nathan is now back in his familiar surroundings in London, where he hopes to make his mark at Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Johnnie Jackson said:

“We are really thrilled to have a goalkeeper of such quality and experience; he has played for some major clubs, so we know exactly what we are getting, and as always, Bayzo will get the best out of him. We are really pleased with Nathan and Joe, as well as the goalkeeping department that we currently have here.”

“We are happy to welcome Nathan. He’s a goalie with genuine pedigree who can work with Bayzo and Joe to help the football club advance.”

Nathan commented:

“The manager, Bayzo, the staff, and the players all contributed significantly to my decision to join this amazing club. Then I heard about the fans; I’m overjoyed to be here and can’t wait to give everything to those who constructed this place brick by brick. “Up, Wombles!”
