The Buffalo Bills are experiencing yet another off-season where they believe they could have done more the season before. Actually, for Buffalo, every season with Josh Allen at quarterback feels like a “super bowl or bust” season.
Even if 2025 won’t be any different, one standout player might not get the opportunity to support the club.
Bills’ Young Star Sees Career Hault After Sexual Assault Allegations
A serious threat to Maxwell Hairston’s career may be emerging:
The Buffalo Bills’ first-round draft pick is facing allegations of sexual assault, according to a civil lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
The incident allegedly took place in 2021 during Hairston’s freshman year at the University of Kentucky. The lawsuit, brought forward by Rebecca Hendryx, outlines the details of the alleged encounter.
Filed by the Bryant Law Center and Meyers & Flowers, the suit accuses Hairston of engaging in non-consensual sexual activity with the plaintiff inside her dormitory room on campus.
According to the complaint, Hairston made the woman feel uneasy by trying to isolate her in his bedroom, prompting her to leave his dorm room.
She reported the alleged assault to the police and later transferred to another university.
Maxwell Hairston was never charged with a crime.
Throughout his college career, Hairston appeared in 32 games, tallying 89 tackles. He also posted 10 pass breakups, six interceptions, and forced three fumbles.
The Buffalo Bills are preparing for training camp, scheduled to begin at the end of July.
The team has acknowledged the allegations involving their first-round pick.
A law firm filed the civil lawsuit on behalf of a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by Hairston during his time at the University of Kentucky.
According to WYRK, the Bills are currently managing the matter internally.
The report also stated that Bills general manager Brandon Beane was aware of the incident prior to the draft. He noted that a full investigation had been conducted, the team reviewed the available information, and Hairston had undergone a polygraph test.
