Breaking News: Phillies Completes Massive Deal For Another Top Talented Right- Bat In Blockbuster

The Philadelphia Phillies can cross Steven Kwan off their list of potential outfield trade targets. As Zach Pressnell reported, the Cleveland Guardians have made it clear they’re not dealing Kwan. In light of that, top MLB insider confirms the Phillies shift their focus to top veteran, who might actually be a better fit in Philadelphia.

“There’s a strong case to be made that top star fits the Phillies’ needs better than Kwan,” He wrote. “While Kwan is a great contact veteran star and gets on base consistently, his power numbers are limited—just six home runs and 32 RBIs this season. In contrast, top star has 23 home runs and 76 RBIs, offering more of the offensive production Philadelphia is seeking.”

Rotman also noted that he right-handed bat would help balance a lineup dominated by lefties like Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, the team’s top sluggers.

Ward has been a reliable hitter for the Los Angeles Angels for over five seasons, making him an appealing target. The Phillies’ signing of Max Kepler hasn’t worked out, so acquiring Ward could help offset that misstep.

“Like Kwan, Ward comes with team control, though Ward is under control for one fewer year,” Rotman explained. “That difference could prompt the Angels to be more willing to move him—and it would likely cost the Phillies less to make a deal.”

With that in mind, adding Ward would be a strategic move that still allows the Phillies to address other needs before the trade deadline. Dombrowski would be wise to act decisively to bring him in.
