BREAKING: Ryan Helsley Emotionally Opens Up On Cardinals Trade Deadline

With the trade deadline fast approaching, St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley knows his name is firmly in the mix of trade rumors. The All-Star reliever is having another dominant season, and with the Cardinals underperforming and considering selling, contending teams are calling.

Still, Helsley has made it clear: if he’s dealt, he’s not closing the door on St. Louis for good.

“I’d definitely be open to coming back,” Helsley told reporters. “This is the organization that drafted me, developed me, and gave me my first real shot. I have a lot of love for the city and this team.”

Helsley, 30, has been one of the most effective closers in baseball this season, racking up saves and flashing elite velocity and swing-and-miss stuff. His performance and affordable contract make him a hot target for playoff-bound clubs looking to bolster their bullpen.

Despite the possibility of being moved, Helsley is taking a professional approach.

“I understand the business side of the game,” he said. “If a trade helps both sides, that’s part of what comes with it. But just because I might get traded doesn’t mean it’s goodbye forever.”

The Cardinals haven’t publicly confirmed that Helsley is on the block, but with his value high and free agency approaching soon, front office leaders are weighing options.

For now, Helsley is focused on doing his job and helping St. Louis win games—whether it’s for a few more weeks or beyond. And even if a trade sends him elsewhere, he hasn’t ruled out a reunion down the road.

“If the chance is there to come back and it makes sense for both sides, I’d be happy to wear the Cardinals jersey again,” he said.
