BREAKING NEWS: Phillies Part Ways With $8.5 Million Player Says “He Has Been a Thorn In The Phillies’ Side All Season

In the crowded National League, the Philadelphia Phillies are now engaged in a fierce postseason drive. With the New York Mets and Phillies playing so well together, the NL East is up for grabs. Even the Miami Marlins are attempting to qualify for the postseason at the last minute. To give themselves the best chance of winning in October, the Phillies will need to make all the correct decisions in the upcoming weeks. From That Ball’s Outta, Edward Eng Because of his terrible play, Here recently predicted that the Phillies would cut bait with reliever Jordan Romano as early as this season. Last summer, Romano agreed to a one-year deal with the Phillies.

“Finally, we have perhaps the Phillies’ biggest move this past offseason in signing reliever Jordan Romano to potentially be the closer for the team in 2025,” Eng said. “Well, that strategy really failed when Romano had a terrible start. Despite having a dismal 12.19 ERA by the end of April, the 32-year-old right-hander managed to limit his failed saves to just two. Despite being placed in some lower-leverage situations, Romano has managed to stay in the Phillies bullpen mix for the time being. Nevertheless, Romano might not finish the season because of what has so far shown to be a fruitless endeavor.”

Throughout the season, Romano has been a pain in the Phillies’ side. Instead, the righty has been a low-leverage pitcher who fails in the role of a strong seventh, eighth, or ninth inning relief for the squad. After nearly 40 innings, the seasoned reliever’s ERA is close to 7.00. Romano’s troubles started in April and have persisted throughout the season, but ERA isn’t necessarily a reliable predictor of success for relief pitchers because it can spike after a single poor performance. The Phillies should sever their relationship with him.
