The Green Bay Packers received some bad news about their injuries. One of their well-paid players will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. It’s a difficult blow for a position group that already lacks depth.
Here are the complete details.
“For The Foreseeable Future” Packers Lose Star For Rest Of Training Camp, At Least (Breaking)
ESPN reports that cornerback Nate Hobbs had knee surgery over the weekend to fix a torn meniscus, but he should be ready for the Lions’ first game of the regular season on September 7.
However, Hobbs is anticipated to miss the rest of training camp.
According to one source, Hobbs had surgery early on Saturday morning with no further difficulties. Another source claims that Hobbs could have continued playing despite the injury, but it might have become worse, therefore it was decided to treat it right away.
Hobbs’ operation was recognized by head coach Matt LaFleur on Tuesday, but he did not provide a return date.
LaFleur stated on Tuesday, “I’m not going to put a timetable on it, but he had to have something cleaned up.” Our goal is for him to return here as soon as possible.
Hobbs last worked out on Thursday. The Packers said he had a knee issue when he missed Friday’s practice, but they gave no other details.
In March, Hobbs became a free agency and signed a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers. It was his physicality that immediately made him stand out throughout training camp. Coach Matt LaFleur really had to urge Hobbs to turn it down and save it for live game at one point.
Earlier in training camp, LaFleur stated, “What you admire most about him is that he loves to compete and is passionate about the game.” He exhibits it, which is one of the reasons we went out and purchased him. He is that consistently every day.
Due to ankle issues, a hand injury, and illness, Hobbs, who spent his first four seasons with the Raiders, missed six games last season and 16 in the three seasons prior. Hobbs was signed by the Packers, partly due to the inability of former cornerback Jaire Alexander to maintain his health. After failing to reach an agreement with the Packers for a new deal, Alexander was cut in June after playing in just seven games in each of the previous two seasons.
Along with Keisean Nixon, Hobbs, 26, is anticipated to start as one of the two outside cornerbacks. Nixon and Hobbs have both spent a lot of time as nickel/inside corners, but the Packers have been employing Javon Bullard as nickelback since they think both players can play on the edge. Carrington Valentine is probably going to start at outside cornerback now that Hobbs is out.

Veteran cornerback Corey Ballentine, who appeared in 37 games for Green Bay between 2022 and 2024 but was not re-signed until Monday, was also welcomed back by the Packers.
“He is an experienced individual who is familiar with our system, both on defense and “we-fense.” LaFleur mentioned the moniker given to the Packers’ special teams. “Very happy to see him.”
