The National League East is stacked with talent, particularly among the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, and Atlanta Braves. While the Braves are having a down year, all three clubs generally enter each season with a legitimate shot at the division title. Atlanta, headlined by superstar Ronald Acuña Jr., boasts a roster loaded with All-Stars—just like the Phillies and Mets.
According to MLB insider Francys Romero, the Phillies are currently leading the race to sign another highly ranked star, the youngest brother of super star. “The Philadelphia Phillies are the favorites to sign Venezuelan shortstop for around $3 million when the next international signing window opens on January 15, 2028,” Romero reported on X, adding that more than 20 MLB teams have expressed interest.
Top star has already established himself as one of the league’s elite with five All-Star selections, three Silver Sluggers, and an MVP award. His younger brother, has also reached the majors as an infielder in the Mets organization, though he’s currently in the minors following some struggles this season.
If the Phillies finalize a deal with Kenny Acuña, each of the three Acuña brothers could end up in NL East organizations—on rival teams no less. Another brother, Bryan Acuña, is also working his way through the Minnesota Twins’ farm system. Despite being just 14 years old, Kenny Acuña reportedly had a verbal agreement with the Phillies as early as age 12.
