Despite being on the injured list since May, Aaron Nola, the starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, is getting close to making a comeback to the major leagues. When Nola returns, the Phillies will have to relocate to add him to the roster. Although Taijuan Walker won’t be sent, he will be forced out of the rotation.

According to Zachary Rotman of FanSided, Joe Ross would be let go to make room for Nola. In 32 games this season, Ross’s ERA stands at 5.16. Despite having a 3.77 ERA with the Milwaukee Brewers the previous season, he has not been successful in Philadelphia. Walker, meanwhile, has a 3.39 ERA in 25 appearances, 14 of which have been starts.

After a horrible first two seasons with the Phillies, he has made a significant comeback. With Ross gone, he would accept the available bullpen position. Nola has started two Triple-A rehab games. After 6 2/3 innings of work, his ERA is 1.35. Nola’s nine regular-season starts this season had an ERA of 6.16, but maybe his stint on the injured list can help him return to his best throwing form.

The Phillies signed Ross to a one-year, $4 million contract for this season after he spent eight seasons in the major leagues. They won’t have any trouble moving on, especially in light of Walker’s performance this season.
In the National League East, the Phillies are attempting to distance themselves from the New York Mets. Including Nola will undoubtedly aid in that endeavor.
