JUST IN: Oli Marmol makes ‘big’ announcement on his future with Cardinals

Before the season, it appeared that St. Louis Cardinals manager Oli Marmol’s job security was uncertain as the team sought to return to playoff contention.

The Cardinals haven’t made the playoffs in two years, and the league’s youngest manager is heading them back in that direction in 2025.

The Cardinals were listed as sellers during the MLB trade deadline, as they traded many of their older pitchers for younger prospects. John Mozeliak made this choice in preparation for Chaim Bloom to take over as president of baseball operations next season.

Oli Marmol, 39, is the youngest manager in baseball, and the Cardinals’ head man opened up last Friday, conceding that St. Louis legends may take over his managerial post in the future.

Long-time Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and first baseman Albert Pujols have shown an interest in managing in the big leagues. This article speculates that both of them could be possibilities for the role.

“Dude, don’t worry about it. I never have. And I pray to never do. I’m 39. I have been managing for four years. I’ve got everything I need. “I never worry about my status,” Marmol stated in an interview last Friday.

“I’ve always kept my head down, added value to those around me, and loved everyone. And things usually work out. I know that sounds clichéd, but I don’t mind. I do not… Have I made any mistakes along the way? Absolutely. Would I redo something? Absolutely. But you do not have that opportunity. You learn from it. “You keep moving.”

There is no assurance about what a new president of baseball operations will do this summer or in 2026, but Cardinals manager Oli Marmol isn’t concerned about his future.
