The Chicago Blackhawks are keeping one of their young netminders in the fold, inking goaltender to a fresh two-year contract extension worth $2.75 million per season. The deal runs through the 2026–27 campaign, giving the 25-year-old Swede more time to grow into his role with the franchise.

Söderblom is coming off his busiest NHL season yet, appearing in 36 games during the 2024–25 slate. He posted a 10-18-7 record along with a 3.18 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage — all career bests. His development earned him a spot with Team Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, further showcasing his growth on the international stage.
At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, Söderblom brings size and athleticism to the crease. Over his NHL career, all spent with Chicago, he has appeared in 86 games and logged a 17-52-11 record with a 3.55 GAA. Beyond the NHL, he has been a steady presence for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL, tallying 36 wins and a .913 save percentage across his time there.

Söderblom has also gained valuable postseason experience in the AHL. In 10 Calder Cup Playoff appearances for Rockford, he owns a 4-6-0 record with a 3.09 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Those outings gave him a taste of pressure-packed hockey that the Blackhawks hope will carry over as their rebuild progresses.
For a player who arrived in Chicago as an undrafted free agent back in May 2021, Söderblom’s journey has been one of persistence and steady growth. Now under contract for two more years, he’ll have the chance to prove he can be a key piece of the Blackhawks’ future in net.
