Few NHL players will receive as much attention this season as Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard.
The third-year center enters his contract year, with high hopes for the 2024 Calder winner. Bedard did not have the sophomore year that the Hawks hoped for last season, but both parties believe a stronger third season is on the horizon.
As Frank Seravalli previously reported on the status of contract extension talks between the Blackhawks and Connor Bedard, insider Pierre LeBrun provided an update last night while meeting with the Chicago star’s representatives during the NHL player media tour.

Bedard comments on extension talks

Connor noted that he is “pretty chilled” about the impending contract extension, and that both sides want to reach an agreement over time. Having said that, the camps are content to not rush the process, as it appears that this will be a choice made next summer rather than now.
Bedard and the Hawks are definitely focused on the upcoming season, which Hawks fans hope will mark the beginning of a climb out of Chicago’s lengthy rebuilding process. Time will tell what the Bedard contract extension looks like in terms of length and value; the 20-year-old has the potential to make a large fortune based on his success this season.
