JUST IN: Virginia Tech on the verge of losing 4-star commitment after firing Brent Pry

The Virginia Tech football team’s 44-20 home loss to Vanderbilt a week ago, after being outscored 34-0 in the second half, was not a good look with several dozen recruits on campus, including four-star commit Andrew Rogers.

Rogers reported on his X account early last week that his visit set for Saturday night’s game versus Old Dominion had been canceled by the Hokies staff, which was a surprise move given head coach Brent Pry’s predicament. When Rogers revealed that his visit would not be taking place, Tennessee quickly reached out to host him.

Virginia Tech 4-star commit Andrew Rogers predicted to flip commitment to Tennessee

Decision Day: 2026 Edge Andrew Rogers Set to Announce Commitment

Rogers committed to the Hokies last month before the season began and has stayed committed to them, but that could change after Virginia Tech dismissed Pry on Sunday. According to Chad Simmons of Rivals, Tennessee is gaining momentum in his recruitment and is now considered the frontrunner to receive a flip from him.

It wouldn’t be shocking if Rogers, a Greensboro native, changed his mind at any time, and he won’t be the last to do so following Pry’s firing. The class was not particularly strong, ranking in the 80s in most recruiting rankings, but now the door is open not just for current players to leave Blacksburg, but also for recruits to change their pledges. Again, it will not be unexpected if it occurs, or if anyone else has committed.
