Breaking News: New York Giants Officially Complete the Signing Of Another Top Offensive Weapon

In Week 2, in what turned out to be an exciting shootout between NFC East rivals, the New York Giants gave the Dallas Cowboys everything they had in what may have been the NFL’s most surprising performance. Despite the Giants’ devastating 40-37 overtime loss, there were a number of positive things that happened throughout this game.

The front management is still trying to figure out how to make the most of the talent on its roster because, of course, New York lost. Due to his exceptional performance throughout training camp during the summer, they were able to re-sign wide receiver Dalen Cambre to their practice squad on Monday.

Cambre played collegiate football for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns for five seasons, although he only caught ten passes for 123 offensive yards. Rather, Cambre was a special teams ace. He signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent even though he was not taken in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cambre made a big impression on the coaching staff during the summer while working as a wide receiver and continuing to work on special teams. Although Cambre’s exclusion from New York’s main roster wasn’t shocking, it was unexpected that he didn’t instantly fit in with their practice squad.

After the team’s heartbreaking loss to the Cowboys on Monday, that seems to have changed. According to multiple reports, the Giants have chosen to invite Cambre back to town as a member of their practice squad because of their 0–2 record. This will allow him to make his NFL debut soon.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network wrote on X that “the Giants are re-signing camp standout WR Dalen Cambre to the practice squad, per source.”

Just like in his college days, Cambre’s clearest path to making an impact with the Giants comes on special teams. Through the first two weeks of the season, it’s already clear how critical that phase of the game has become across the NFL, and New York could benefit from having a versatile piece like Cambre who can contribute across multiple units.

For now, it’s still uncertain whether he’ll be elevated to the active roster. His main priority is continuing to develop behind the scenes so that if the opportunity does come, he’ll be ready to step in and make a difference right away. As the Giants gear up for a big Week 3 clash against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET, Cambre’s progress remains a storyline to watch.
