SAD NEWS: Giants Hit With Another Brutal Injury to Key Offensive Starter

The New York Giants fell to 0-3 with a 22-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, and they have a number of issues to address. For starters, Russell Wilson isn’t playing well. On Sunday, he completed 18 of 32 passes with two interceptions and no touchdowns, leaving some MetLife Stadium supporters practically imploring the organization to give rookie Jaxson Dart a chance at quarterback. Dart will now have the opportunity to showcase his abilities after being selected the Giants’ next quarterback.

Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson, two young wide receivers, could be emerging threats in New York’s passing attack. However, its ground game has been lackluster, and it will now be without its starting running back for a short time. Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a dislocated shoulder against Kansas City, and Adam Schefter expects him to miss two to four weeks of activity. Tracy had a strong rookie season last year, totaling 839 running yards and five rushing touchdowns on an average of 4.4 yards per carry. He also made 38 receptions for 284 receiving yards and one score.

He had been quiet to begin the season, totaling 68 rushing yards in three games. His injury will result in more touches for Cam Skattebo, a rookie picked in the fourth round of the NFL draft out of Arizona State University. Skattebo performed admirably on Sunday, with 60 rushing yards and a touchdown on ten carries. He had a great 2024 season, running for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns, earning him first-team All-Big 12 honors. With Tracy out, veteran running back Devin Singletary, who has only eight carries in 2025, should see greater opportunities.

The Giants face a difficult schedule ahead. This weekend, they will play the Los Angeles Chargers, who are emerging as a powerhouse, and in Week 6, they will face the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles after only three days rest. After that, New York will play back-to-back road games against the Denver Broncos and the same Eagles before returning to Bergen County to face the San Francisco 49ers.
