Blockbuster: Kings Confirms Intriguing Trade For Two Key All-stars

The NBA trade season is officially underway, and while the Sacramento Kings haven’t made a move yet, that could change soon with the 2025 NBA Draft set to begin tonight.

Sacramento Bee insider Jason Anderson reports that the Kings are “expected to explore” trade options involving two All-Stars.

The Kings are reportedly considering trade options for top star, a six-time All-Star who averaged 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists this past season, shooting 47.7% from the field and 32.8% from beyond the arc. DeRozan is entering the second year of a three-year, \$50.5 million deal he signed with Sacramento last summer, with \$24.8 million owed for next season and \$25.7 million for the 2026–27 campaign. Additionally, the Kings may explore trade possibilities involving veteran star.

Exploring a trade for top star seems logical for a team that missed the playoffs last season, especially with him turning 36 in August. What’s more surprising, though, is Jason Anderson’s casual mention of a potential Domantas Sabonis trade.

Still, the Kings might be considering a full reset after fluctuating between playoff contention and lottery territory. If that’s the case, testing the trade market for Sabonis—a three-time All-Star who’s now 29—could be a strategic move for Sacramento.

Domantas Sabonis still has three years left on his contract, which could make him an attractive target for teams looking to add a star with long-term control. With a cap hit of \$42.3 million for the 2025 season, the Kings would need to find a trade that positions them better for the future—no easy task when dealing a player of Sabonis’ caliber.
