Hire an offensive-minded coach and land four straight defensive additions. No complaints here—Kentucky clearly needed reinforcements on that side of the ball, and the Wildcats are getting them. The latest boost comes from top ranking defensive lineman, who confirmed to KSR that he will be joining Jay Bateman’s defense in Lexington.
Breaux becomes the newest addition to a growing defensive portal class that already includes Arkansas linebacker Tavion Wallace, Western Carolina cornerback Hasaan Sykes, and Gardner-Webb EDGE Antonio O’Berry. Early in the transfer window, Kentucky has found more traction bolstering its defense.

Ahmad Breaux’s development at LSU has been notable. When he arrived in Baton Rouge, he was expected to play on the edge as an outside linebacker. Fresh off a Louisiana state championship—his school’s first since 1990—he impressed during the offseason and eventually added roughly 40 pounds, prompting a move to an interior role. As a freshman, he appeared in 13 games with two starts and earned LSU Defensive Freshman of the Year honors. He followed that up with a sophomore season in which he played 12 games, recorded 19 tackles, and notched his first half-sack.
Breaux recently visited Lexington with his mother, and the trip clearly left a strong impression. He chose Kentucky despite interest from Arkansas and others, and he’ll arrive with two years of eligibility remaining to play under new defensive coordinator Jay Bateman.
Kentucky’s portal strategy has made it clear: upgrading the defensive front is a priority, a sensible approach for a program that has struggled on that side of the ball in recent seasons.
Looking ahead, attention now shifts to the quarterback situation. Sam Leavitt remains one to watch as he visits LSU and Lane Kiffin later this week, while Kentucky is also hosting Elon quarterback Landen Clark and Auburn’s Ashton Daniels. Keep an eye on the portal tracker as developments continue.
