Kentucky continues to assemble its first roster under new head coach Will Stein, and the Wildcats made another meaningful addition Friday afternoon by landing wide receiver Nic Anderson.
CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer first reported Anderson’s commitment, as Kentucky quickly secured the transfer after he entered the portal from LSU on Wednesday. Anderson spent just one season with the Tigers, appearing in 10 games during the 2025 campaign. The production was modest — 12 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns — but the Wildcats see far more than the stat line suggests.
Stein and his staff are betting on Anderson’s upside, which was on full display earlier in his career at Oklahoma. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Texas native has 12 career touchdown receptions, 10 of which came during his breakout 2023 season with the Sooners.
Anderson began his college career at Oklahoma, where he spent three seasons and played in 17 games when healthy. His standout year came in 2023, when he suited up for 13 games and posted 38 catches for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. While those numbers came before Oklahoma’s move to the SEC, they showcased Anderson’s ability to thrive against high-level competition.

Staying healthy has been the biggest obstacle since then. A quad injury sidelined Anderson for the entire 2024 season at Oklahoma, prompting a transfer to LSU in hopes of recapturing his previous form. Unfortunately, injuries again limited his impact in Baton Rouge.
Now, the former four-star recruit from the Class of 2022 is seeking a fresh start in Lexington. Under Stein — regarded as one of college football’s brightest offensive minds after leaving Oregon for Kentucky — Anderson will look to finally turn potential into sustained production.
