BLOCKBUSTER MOVE!! Red Sox Confirms Big Money Deal for Another Top Experienced Star Middle Infielder

The Boston Red Sox have already been one of the more active teams this offseason, having pulled off trades for starting pitchers Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo. But according to the buzz heading into the Winter Meetings in Orlando, their work may be far from over.

Now that the rotation has been reinforced, Boston is expected to turn its attention to an offense that could use another impact bat or two. While most projections link the Red Sox to upgrades at the corner infield spots, former Boston outfielder and current MLB Network analyst Cliff Floyd offered a bolder prediction: he believes the Red Sox will land star middle infielder.

One Red Sox player (besides Jarren Duran) likely to get traded during Winter Meetings

“I’m going with him going to the Boston Red Sox to play second base,” Floyd said on Sunday’s edition of MLB Tonight. “When you look at what Bo Bichette can bring to that team, in Fenway… He can hit the ball all over the place, play a really good second base and is healthy. That’s my Bo prediction, him going to the Red Sox.”

Boston does have a promising young second baseman in Marcelo Mayer, but Mayer’s position could shift to third base if Alex Bregman signs elsewhere in free agency — a scenario the team is preparing for. In that case, adding Bichette becomes an even more intriguing fit.

At just 27 years old, Bichette checks nearly every box: right-handed power, elite bat-to-ball skills, strong contact ability, and an offensive profile built for Fenway Park’s unique dimensions. The Red Sox also know him well after watching him star for the division-rival Blue Jays across seven seasons.

Bo Bichette Gets Strong Message Amid Uncertain Blue Jays Future

Although Bichette has played almost exclusively at shortstop, he did handle second base during Toronto’s World Series run, showing he’s open to the switch when needed.

While the Blue Jays remain the frontrunner to re-sign their homegrown star, the Red Sox could attempt to lure him away from the defending AL champions — and if Floyd’s prediction proves right, Boston’s lineup could get a major boost in the coming weeks.
