Breaking: 5-Star Duke Basketball Forward Now Transferring to Rival Program

A few weeks after entering the transfer portal for the second time, Duke basketball player has chosen his third collegiate destination.

This morning, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported that the 6-foot-9, 221-pound Power, who spent one season each at Duke and Virginia, will play for the Penn Quakers under their new head coach, Fran McCaffery, next season.

The 20-year-old Power, a former five-star recruit from Worcester Academy (Mass.), entered the portal when it opened in late March.

As a sophomore at Virginia last season, TJ Power played in 24 games, starting the first five, but averaged only 1.3 points and 1.0 rebound in 9.3 minutes per game.

His stats at Duke were similar, with averages of 2.1 points and 0.7 rebounds in 6.7 minutes per game.

Last year, Power was one of seven players who transferred out of Duke. This time, however, fourth-year head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff have not lost a single player to the transfer portal.
