After reaching the NCAA Final Four in the 2024–25 season, Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils saw four of their five starters depart the program. Rather than dwell on the losses, Scheyer and his coaching staff quickly shifted their focus to rebuilding the roster for another deep tournament run in 2025–26.
That work could soon pay off with a major addition.
According to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports, elite 2025 prospect Dame Sarr is currently in Durham for an official visit, a detail confirmed by multiple sources.
Sarr, a 6-foot-7 guard from Italy, is one of the most highly regarded players in his class and is drawing interest from several top programs, including Kansas and Oregon. He previously visited Kansas on May 7 and received an offer from Illinois earlier this year.
Sarr was part of FC Barcelona’s roster for the 2024–25 season and had a breakout game in March, scoring 21 points with three assists. However, his time with the team ended in April after he opted to participate in the Nike Hoop Summit without the club’s approval, leading to his release due to a contract violation.
Despite that, Sarr’s profile continues to rise. He’s played for Italy in various international youth events, including the 2024 U18 EuroBasket.

With key departures such as Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Tyrese Proctor, and Khaman Maluach, Duke is looking to fill several spots in the starting lineup. The expected core for next season includes Caleb Foster, Isaiah Evans, Cameron Boozer, and Patrick Ngongba II.
Should Sarr commit to Duke, he would likely contend for a starting role right away and bring immediate impact to a program aiming to remain among college basketball’s elite.
