Breaking: Auburn officially adds offensive star in final hours of early signing period

Auburn football continues navigating a pivotal rebuilding phase under Alex Golesh, working to restock talent and strengthen depth after an up-and-down season marked by inconsistency and roster turnover. The Tigers have faced challenges on both sides of the ball, especially up front, making offensive line development one of the program’s biggest priorities. Despite recent player departures and a few recruiting misses, Auburn remains intent on stabilizing its foundation and building toward long-term competitiveness in the SEC.

That determination showed again on the final day of the early signing period. Even though Auburn narrowly missed out on Jase Mathews on Friday, the program still closed the day on a positive note by securing another addition to its recruiting class. Mason Mathis, a three-star offensive tackle from Milton, Florida, committed to the Tigers after previously pledging to USF, where head coach Alex Golesh and offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick had recruited him.

Mathis is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1,646 overall prospect in the nation and the 138th offensive tackle, but Auburn values his upside and physical tools as it continues rebuilding the trenches. His decision makes him the 18th signee in Auburn’s current class and the second offensive tackle added during this cycle.

He also becomes one of four total offensive linemen joining the Tigers this year, alongside Wilson Zierer, Parker Pritchett and fellow former USF commit Mykall Lundy-Foster. Each brings size and development potential to a position group Auburn is determined to reshape.

With these 18 signees, Auburn currently ranks No. 41 nationally in 247Sports’ team recruiting standings. On3 places the Tigers slightly lower at No. 46, but the staff remains focused on strengthening the class as the program continues its effort to build a more competitive roster.
