The Buffalo Bills are heading into NFL training camp as one of the league’s top Super Bowl hopefuls. After falling short in last season’s AFC Championship Game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills are focused on making that final leap in 2025. Quarterback Josh Allen is coming off an MVP season, having delivered an exceptional performance throughout 2024. Despite his dominance, it became clear that he needed more reliable weapons. The Bills attempted to address that by acquiring veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns before the trade deadline, but the move didn’t yield the desired results.
With the 2025 season quickly approaching, there’s news that Buffalo once again look to bolster its offense. NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report has confirmed the Bills as a dark-horse candidate to trade for Washington Commanders star receiver Terry McLaurin—if he becomes available. “After another heartbreaking postseason exit, Buffalo didn’t make major upgrades to its offensive skill positions,” Kay noted. “While the front office appears willing to rely on MVP Josh Allen to elevate a solid-but-unspectacular receiving group, landing a top-tier playmaker like McLaurin would be a game-changer. He’d immediately become Allen’s go-to option and form a dynamic trio with Khalil Shakir and emerging rookie Keon Coleman, giving the Bills a potentially elite passing attack.”
McLaurin could be exactly what Buffalo needs to reach the next level. His presence would provide Allen with a true No. 1 target and lift the entire offense. Last season, McLaurin recorded 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns with Washington—numbers that could significantly impact Buffalo’s title push.
Of course, acquiring a receiver of McLaurin’s caliber wouldn’t come cheap. The Bills would need to put together an attractive trade offer to persuade the Commanders. As of now, there are no concrete reports linking Buffalo to trade talks for McLaurin. Still, if the opportunity arises, pursuing him would be a smart, strategic move.
