The Buffalo Bills struggled to generate sacks last season, ranking in the lower half of the league, so they made moves in free agency to address the issue.
According to a recent PFF article highlighting key players in each NFL team’s starting lineup, the reigning AFC East champions could be heavily impacted by their new addition—who PFF believes could be a major difference-maker
“Injuries appeared to catch up with veteran star in 2024, as he finished just 71st among edge defenders with a PFF overall grade of 61.1—more than 10 points lower than his previous career low in 2018. At his peak, he was considered one of the top 10 edge rushers in the NFL. Buffalo is banking on him returning to that elite level after signing him this offseason,” PFF wrote.
And when it comes to injuries, there’s now some cause for concern among fans—top prospect is dealing with a calf issue that will keep him out until training camp.
The Bills brought in the veteran edge rusher on a one-year, \$12.6 million contract in March after his release from the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, he’ll be aiming to show he can live up to that investment.

The last time Joey Bosa played a mostly full season was in 2021, when he recorded 10.5 sacks and earned a Pro Bowl selection. However, injuries have hindered him in recent years, which is why he’s viewed as an “X-factor”—his performance could significantly influence the Bills’ success.
After falling to the Kansas City Chiefs once again in the AFC Championship, Buffalo is determined to return to the playoffs, and Bosa, along with the rest of the defense, will play a crucial role in that redemption effort.
