BREAKING: Buffs Confirms Major Travis Hunter Announcement

Although the past few weeks have been a whirlwind for Travis Hunter—who was taken No. 2 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft—they didn’t keep him from reaching a major milestone.

After starting his college career at Jackson State and finishing with two standout seasons at Colorado, he emerged as one of the most unique and electrifying players in recent college football history. His remarkable play was capped off by winning the Heisman Trophy, making him only the second player in Colorado Buffaloes history to receive the award.

Even though he declared for the NFL Draft following his junior year, Travis Hunter announced in a video shared on the Buffaloes’ social media—joined by several of his Colorado teammates—that he had completed his degree and graduated from the University of Colorado.

“What’s up, Buff Nation? It’s your boy Trav! The boys out here graduating, man!” Hunter said enthusiastically.

Colorado’s official account proudly shared, “SECURED THE DEGREE!”

The Jaguars will kick off rookie minicamp on Saturday, and Hunter wrapped up his time at Colorado on a high note, completing his studies with an impressive GPA ranging from 3.7 to 3.9.

Hunter’s move from Colorado to Jacksonville has been rapid, and he’s already emerging as a key piece of the team’s long-term plans. He’s projected to contribute on both offense and defense as a wide receiver and cornerback—an extremely rare role in the NFL.

Originally expected to begin his NFL career focusing on wide receiver duties, Hunter will also take on responsibilities at cornerback. He’ll participate in defensive back meetings and is poised to make an impact on both offense and defense. The Jaguars seem committed to using him just as he envisioned—maximizing his versatility and rare talent.

“Travis Hunter will begin primarily as a wide receiver,” reported NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “He’ll spend most of his early reps on offense, then gradually start learning the defensive back role as the offseason progresses.”
