The Las Vegas Raiders are stepping into a new chapter with Pete Carroll at the helm as head coach. Despite falling short of playoff expectations in recent seasons, there’s renewed optimism surrounding the team heading into the 2025 NFL season.
Although the buzz of free agency has quieted and the 2025 NFL Draft is in the rearview, the Raiders still have opportunities to strengthen their roster.
One such opportunity might involve trading for a seasoned veteran.
A specific player has been mentioned as a possible trade target, and if acquired, he could make a significant impact in bolstering the defensive secondary.
Nick Shook of NFL.com has identified the Las Vegas Raiders as a leading candidate to trade for Miami Dolphins’ star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is under a $72.3 million contract.
“To shift momentum on defense, acquiring a high-profile player like Ramsey would be ideal,” Shook explained. “He’d be a great fit in the Raiders’ Silver and Black, bringing much-needed credibility and intimidation to their secondary. Plus, with $42.3 million in available cap space—second-most in the NFL—the Raiders are well-positioned financially to make a move.”

Ramsey had a strong 2024 season, appearing in all 17 games for Miami and recording 60 tackles, a sack, two interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. He remains a legitimate No. 1 cornerback.
Bringing in a player of Ramsey’s caliber could significantly elevate Las Vegas’ defense and boost their chances of competing. If he becomes available, the Raiders would be wise to make a serious push.
