The Minnesota Vikings completed their rookie trials last weekend, offering approximately 20 undrafted prospects an opportunity to exhibit their abilities.
Among the aspirants vying for the coaching staff’s attention, two defensive prospects stood out and signed contracts with the squad.
On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of outside linebacker Matt Harmon and defensive lineman Elijah Williams.
“The #Vikings have signed OLB Matt Harmon and DL Elijah Williams,” the team stated.
As summer training camp approaches, both players will compete for a spot on the final 53-man roster.
Kentrell Harmon offers extensive college experience to the Minnesota Vikings’ defense.
The 25-year-old linebacker, who stands 6’6″ and weighs 240 pounds, spent seven years at Kent State, playing in 49 games despite injuries and the COVID season.
Harmon showed potential in 2021, but really reached his groove last season, recording 56 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks.
His immediate goal is to establish a role with the Vikings, most likely as a depth option at outside linebacker who can also contribute on special teams.
The Vikings also welcomed Elijah Williams, a 22-year-old defensive lineman from FCS Morgan State.

Williams proved himself a disruptive force in college, compiling 31 sacks and 52 tackles for loss across 42 games.
His senior season was particularly impressive, with 11 sacks. Despite being slightly undersized for a defensive tackle at 6’2″ and 285 pounds, Williams impressed with his quickness during the HBCU Legacy Bowl.
While Harmon and Williams secured their contracts through outstanding performances, other famous names, such as Maine’s Montigo Moss and Nebraska’s Tommi Hill, left the Minnesota Vikings tryouts without signing contracts.
