The Duke Blue Devils made a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Final Four before narrowly losing to the Houston Cougars in a one-possession game.
After the season, the program experienced a wave of player departures, mostly due to NBA Draft declarations—something head coach Jon Scheyer anticipated given the talent on the roster. However, there was a positive development this week as one key player announced his return for next season.
He confirmed he would be back for his sophomore year, providing a boost to Duke’s lineup. In response, teammate Tyrese Proctor shared a brief but telling message: “That time,” signaling that Harris could be stepping into a more prominent role in the 2025–2026 season.
Darren Harris, a 6-foot-6 forward from Fairfax, Virginia, is known for his long-range shooting ability. During his freshman campaign, he appeared in 21 games, averaging just six minutes and two points per game, with his final outing coming in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Meanwhile, Proctor, who averaged 12.4 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the floor, is currently exploring his NBA Draft prospects. He played a critical role in Duke’s ACC Tournament title and Final Four appearance.
Scheyer, heading into his fourth season as Duke’s head coach, holds an impressive 89-22 overall record and a 48-12 mark in ACC play. He has led the Blue Devils to the NCAA Tournament in all three of his seasons at the helm.
