BREAKING: Duke Basketball Win Commitment for No. 1 Ranked 5-Star Elite Talent

Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils are once again projected to be among the elite contenders for the national title in the 2025–26 college basketball season. After a Final Four appearance last season, Duke saw the departure of several key players, most notably Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel.

To keep the program at the top, Scheyer must continue bringing in top-tier talent. He’s done well balancing traditional recruiting with transfer portal additions. While the 2025 recruiting class appears to be set, the 2026 group still needs attention. Fortunately for Duke, they are currently leading the race for a major five-star prospect.

Brandon McCoy, a 6’5″ combo guard from Bellflower, California, has emerged as a primary target. Things are trending positively for Duke in this recruitment.

According to On3 Sports, Duke has a 65.1% chance of securing McCoy’s commitment, far ahead of USC, which sits at just 1.8%.

Player evaluation: 2026 point guard Brandon McCoy

McCoy is currently ranked as the top combo guard and the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 class. Securing his commitment would be a significant move in maintaining Duke’s championship potential for the foreseeable future.

McCoy made an official visit to Duke on November 3, 2024, and mutual interest has been evident for some time.

While there’s no set timeline for his decision, Duke is clearly in the driver’s seat, and Scheyer has every reason to feel confident about where things stand.
