Breaking: Huskies 4-star talented WR enters transfer portal after one season

Another young wide receiver from Washington is entering the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver, has announced today that he plans to transfer after spending one season with the Huskies. Harris redshirted during the 2025 season and saw action in just one game as a true freshman, leaving him with four years of eligibility remaining. His decision makes him the 15th Washington player to depart the program this offseason.

A native of Eastvale, California, Marcus Harris starred at national powerhouse Mater Dei High School, where he was teammates with current Washington quarterback Dash Beierly. He originally committed to Oklahoma before changing course and signing with Washington during the early signing period on Dec. 4, 2024. Harris enrolled early and joined the program during winter quarter.

Portal Claims Another As UW Loses Marcus Harris

Rated a four-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings, Harris was part of a competitive group of true freshman receivers that also included Chris Lawson and Raiden Vines-Bright. He was in the mix for early playing time during spring practices, but a lower-leg injury significantly limited him throughout fall camp. While Harris worked his way back, Vines-Bright, Lawson, and fellow freshman Dezmen Roebuck climbed the depth chart.

Harris’ lone appearance came in Washington’s 38–10 victory over Boise State in the LA Bowl.

He becomes the third Washington wide receiver to enter the portal since it opened Jan. 2. Vines-Bright transferred to Arizona State, while sophomore Audric Harris announced his move to Hawai’i earlier this week. In addition, leading receiver Denzel Boston has declared for the NFL draft, and Omari Evans has exhausted his eligibility.

Marcus Harris, Washington, Wide Receiver

Despite the departures, Washington still features a promising and crowded wide receiver room. Roebuck is expected back after an impressive freshman season that included 42 catches for 560 yards and seven touchdowns. Lawson also gained experience as the year progressed, while Rashid Williams is set to return after injuries cut his 2025 season short.

The Huskies are also welcoming a highly regarded freshman class, highlighted by four-star prospects Jordan Clay, Trez Davis, Mason James, and Blaise LaVista. All four have already enrolled and are expected to participate in spring practices, further intensifying competition at the position.
