The Carolina Panthers appear to have found the stability at quarterback they have been searching for. And if Bryce Young has anything to say about it, that stability is only just beginning.
After guiding Carolina to an NFC South crown and its first postseason appearance since 2017, the top overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft addressed the inevitable topic hovering over the organization: a possible long term contract extension.
Speaking on the Up and Adams Show during Super Bowl week, Young made it clear he would not negotiate through the media. Still, he did not shy away from expressing how he feels about his future.
Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers are aligned about the future
“I leave that up to my agent… I’m super grateful for the Panthers organization. I love Carolina. I’ve learned for that to be home for me now. I love the building. I love the people around me… I’m grateful to be a Panther.”

Throughout the interview, Young came across as a player at peace with both his professional path and personal life. He consistently focused on appreciation and continuity instead of contract numbers or bargaining power. The takeaway was unmistakable: he envisions himself in Carolina for the long haul.
The Panthers are eligible to extend Young as soon as this offseason, and his 2025 campaign significantly accelerated those discussions.
The former Alabama standout finished the year with 3,011 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He added 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground as Carolina captured its first division title in ten years.
Beyond the numbers, Young earned a reputation for poise and resilience in high pressure moments. Since 2023, the Heisman Trophy winner has engineered 12 game winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime, the most in the NFL over that span.
“Sometimes when you’re getting hit, you’re like, ‘Alright, we’re playing football.’ Something kind of switches for me… You kind of enjoy getting back up.”

That mindset became woven into the Panthers’ identity. The team is expected to exercise Young’s fifth year option this offseason, and general manager Dan Morgan has openly praised the quarterback’s development as both a leader and field commander.
“His work ethic, his ability to command the huddle, take control of the line of scrimmage… I just felt like he had a lot more command out there this year. Really coming into his own and getting better every week. I think Bryce has shown flashes of greatness… we have a young team building continuity and figuring themselves out.”

In short, Carolina views No. 9 as a foundational piece rather than an uncertainty. Neither Young nor Morgan hinted at urgency or tension surrounding a new deal. Instead, their remarks suggest mutual confidence and shared direction.
Whether an extension is finalized this offseason or sometime later, the trajectory is clear. After years of searching for a franchise quarterback, the Panthers now have one who speaks and performs like the cornerstone of the organization.
