BREAKING: Jon Scheyer Bids Farewell to Duke Basketball Star as He Officially Leaves Program

The Duke basketball program has experienced another roster change of the offseason.

Freshman guard/forward is officially heading to the professional level, as confirmed. Duke’s social media team honored him with high praise, calling him a “competitor,” “winner,” “bucket-getter,” and “playmaker.”

“I loved having him in our program,” said head coach Jon Scheyer. “I’m so proud of him and everything he accomplished this season… He always embraced the tough, competitive moments that are crucial to winning at the highest level.”

During his time under third-year head coach Scheyer, the 6-foot-7, 217-pound Wisconsin native posted impressive numbers—averaging 14.4 points per game for a Duke team that won 35 games, secured both the ACC regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the Final Four.

Kon Knueppel was highly efficient, shooting 47.9% from the field, 40.8% from three-point range, and 91.4% from the free-throw line.

He earned ACC Tournament MVP honors and was named to both the All-ACC Second Team and the ACC All-Rookie Team. Now projected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Knueppel joins fellow Duke standouts Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach on that elite list.

“Forever a Blue Devil,” wrote Knueppel in his announcement. “Taking the Brotherhood with me to the next chapter.”
