Breaking: Kentucky loses another key player as he enters the transfer portal

Kentucky Football’s offseason roster turnover at wide receiver continues to accelerate, as another familiar name is preparing to seek a new opportunity. Only hours after Cameron Miller announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, reports surfaced that Hardley Gilmore will do the same, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Gilmore’s college journey has been anything but smooth since arriving as a highly regarded four star recruit in the 2024 class. Injuries limited his availability early, though he still managed to appear in seven games as a true freshman. That uneven start led him to explore the transfer portal following the 2024 season, where he initially committed to Nebraska. However, his time in Lincoln was short lived, as he was dismissed from the program during spring practices, ultimately returning to Kentucky in an attempt to reset his career.

During the most recent season, Gilmore carved out a consistent role in the Wildcats’ offense. He suited up for all 12 games and finished with 28 receptions for 313 yards and a touchdown, showing flashes of the playmaking ability that once made him one of the more intriguing young receivers in the SEC. With two years of eligibility remaining, Gilmore will now look for a program that can offer both stability and a clearer path to production.

His departure further thins a Kentucky wide receiver group already undergoing major change. Gilmore joins Miller, Montavin Quisenberry, Troy Stellato, David Washington Jr., and Preston Bowman in the portal. Combined with the graduations of Ja’Mori Maclin, J.J. Hester, and Fred Farrier, the Wildcats are facing a near total rebuild at the position heading into next season.
