Ty Simpson is officially back and set to participate in this week’s NFL Combine, confirming what fans and scouts have been eagerly awaiting.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that Simpson, who battled a severe case of gastritis late in the 2025 season, has fully recovered. His weight, which had dropped into the 190s by the Rose Bowl, has rebounded to 215 pounds, signaling he’s ready for the pre-draft workouts.
Simpson also dealt with a bulging disc in his back and bursitis in his elbow, according to Chris Low of On3, but he now enters the 2026 NFL Draft process fully healthy and prepared to showcase his skills.
The consensus No. 2 quarterback in the draft class, Simpson will throw at the Combine, giving scouts a firsthand look at his arm strength and mechanics after a season plagued by health issues.
He finished the 2025 season with 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only five interceptions, proving his ability to perform at a high level despite setbacks.
Teams like the New York Jets, who hold two first-round picks, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, another franchise in need of a quarterback, will be closely watching Simpson as the draft approaches.
