A Seattle Mariners pitcher has officially departed the organization as he continues his attempt to return to Major League Baseball.
Left-hander Nick Margevicius has signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants, according to a report from Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. The signing marks Margevicius’ departure from the Mariners, the last MLB team he appeared with at the big-league level.
Margevicius last pitched in the majors for Seattle in 2021, appearing in five games before undergoing shoulder surgery related to thoracic outlet syndrome. While he returned to pitch in the Mariners’ minor league system following surgery, he was unable to make his way back to the major league roster.

After departing Seattle, Margevicius spent time in the Atlanta Braves’ minor league system and later pitched internationally. He competed in the Chinese Professional Baseball League with the TSG Hawks in 2024 before continuing his comeback attempt in 2025 in the Mexican League and with the Detroit Tigers organization.
At Triple-A Toledo in 2025, the 6-foot-5 left-hander posted a 3.89 ERA, performance that helped earn him another opportunity in affiliated baseball.
Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of Rider University, Margevicius is a Cleveland, Ohio native and a St. Ignatius High School graduate.
Now with the Giants, Margevicius will try to work his way back to MLB, while the Mariners move forward following his departure
