On Thursday night, top Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski made a memorable MLB debut against the St. Louis Cardinals. The towering 6-foot-7 right-hander was electric, tossing five no-hit innings and pitching into the sixth. He set the tone early, firing a 102.2 MPH fastball to the first batter he faced—a new Brewers franchise record.
Despite his dominant performance, Misiorowski’s debut came to a sudden and concerning end when he appeared to stumble off the mound just three pitches into the sixth inning. Fortunately for the Brewers, it turned out to be nothing serious.
Brewers, Misiorowski Avoid Major Scare
Team officials later confirmed that Misiorowski exited due to cramping in his right leg. After delivering ball three to Cardinals hitter Victor Scott, Misiorowski seemed to experience discomfort and awkwardly rolled his ankle as he tried to reset on the mound. Catcher William Contreras quickly rushed over, and Misiorowski appeared to understand he wouldn’t continue. Nick Mears came on in relief to complete the inning.
Thankfully, the move was precautionary. After the game, the 23-year-old reassured reporters: “All good.”
Though the ending was a bit anticlimactic, Misiorowski remained composed during postgame interviews. “Obviously, I didn’t want to come out like that. I felt like I could’ve kept going, but I cramped up. It happens,” he said.
A Dream Debut for Misiorowski
All things considered, Misiorowski couldn’t have asked for a better debut. “I thought I’d give up a couple hits, have that ‘welcome to the show’ moment,” he said. “But I just went with it.”
His stellar outing helped lift the Brewers to a 6-0 win, allowing them to overtake the Cardinals for second in the NL Central with a 37-33 record.
Despite his calm demeanor on the mound, Misiorowski admitted the nerves had been real in the lead-up. “I haven’t slept in two days,” he said with a smile, hoping to finally get some rest before his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the Cubs.
That upcoming start, against one of MLB’s top offenses, will be a tougher test—but one Misiorowski seems ready for. For now, Brewers fans can savor a promising debut and look ahead to what could be a bright future every time the young righty takes the mound.
