Breaking: MLB Insider Confirms ‘Shocking’ Nolan Arenado Trade With Hated Rival

Despite being on the trading block, Nolan Arenado remains with the St. Louis Cardinals. Arenado has a say in where he goes, and he has found no team, including the Houston Astros, that he wants to play for. Arenado had a small list of teams to whom he would accept a trade, including the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Cardinals are still looking to move Arenado, and the Dodgers have yet to indicate an interest in a deal. Nightengale says the Dodgers are still hoping Max Muncy will break out of his slump.

Nolan Arenado, a Los Angeles native, would be returning home if he joined the Dodgers — but for now, the team isn’t pursuing him.

Max Muncy, who signed with the Dodgers in 2017 after beginning his MLB career with the Oakland Athletics, has had a notable tenure in L.A., earning All-Star nods in 2019 and 2021 and contributing to the team’s World Series victories in 2020 and 2024. However, he’s off to a slow start this season. Over 31 games, he’s batting .184 with a .314 OBP and .286 slugging percentage, along with one home run, five RBIs, seven runs, 18 hits, and 37 strikeouts in 98 at-bats.

There’s still time for Muncy to rebound, but with the NL West proving to be highly competitive, the Dodgers may start exploring other options to strengthen their roster — especially if they hope to defend their World Series title.

Arenado, on the other hand, has posted a .237/.326/.395 slash line this season with three home runs, 13 RBIs, 13 runs scored, 27 hits, and only 10 strikeouts across 114 at-bats in 30 games. He would also bring elite defensive value at third base, highlighted by his 10 Gold Gloves.

Whether the Dodgers will make a major move before the trade deadline — and whether Arenado is part of that equation — remains to be seen.
