Expectations are high as Hugh Freeze enters his third year as Auburn’s head coach. After two seasons with losing records, the Tigers are heading into the 2025 season with a revamped quarterback room and two top-10 recruiting classes.
One of the position groups expected to make a significant impact this season is the wide receivers. Although Auburn lost KeAndre Lambert-Smith to the NFL Draft, the Freeze Four—Malcolm Simmons, Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson, and Bryce Cain—are all returning, along with several new receivers brought in via the transfer portal.
Earlier this week, PFF released their annual Top 10 lists, highlighting the best returning players at each position in college football. Two Auburn wide receivers made the cut.
The first is Eric Singleton Jr., who transferred to Auburn from Georgia Tech ahead of the 2025 season after spending his first two years with the Yellow Jackets. After a full spring with the Tigers, Singleton is already drawing attention.
“His 1,468 receiving yards over two seasons at Georgia Tech are the second most among returning Power Four wideouts,” said PFF’s Max Chadwick. “He also ranked in the 99th percentile for PFF’s Game Athleticism Score. Singleton has track speed and can break a big play at any moment. His 664 receiving yards on deep passes since 2023 lead all returning Power Four receivers.”
The second is Cam Coleman, who had a standout freshman season at Auburn after being one of the top wide receiver recruits in the 2024 class.
“Over the last three weeks of the 2024 regular season, Coleman led the nation with six receiving touchdowns and totaled the sixth-most receiving yards (306),” Chadwick wrote. “He did this despite the worst quarterback play among anyone in this top 10, which should improve with the addition of Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold for 2025.”

“Coleman’s Game Athleticism Score is near the 100th percentile, with incredible movement ability at 6-foot-3 and 197 pounds, plus a wide catch radius. Expect a massive breakout season from him in his sophomore year.”
Auburn will kick off their 2025 season on August 29 against Baylor.
