Deion Sanders, the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team, has essentially declared that his middle son Shilo has formally retired from the NFL. When Coach Prime presented his predictions for Shilo’s professional future, Deion made it clear that football was not one of the possibilities.

 

 

Rather, Shilo may decide to return to acting or streaming after being cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the final preseason cuts. In his most likely NFL finale on August 23, he was dismissed for hitting Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson in front of a referee.

Once upon a time, I was going to pursue that (acting) path. Shilo has that skill, man, so I think that’s the path he’s going to take, either streaming or otherwise,” Coach Prime stated at Thursday’s Colorado Football Coaches Show.

 

 

The 2 Legendary Podcast, which Shilo’s younger brother Shedeur hosted, served as the inspiration for another “Prime Time” YouTube program.

As journalist Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today pointed out, Shilo Sanders has already proven that his talents extend far beyond the football field. In 2024, he took the runway in Paris, modeling for none other than Pharrell Williams as part of Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Fall-Winter collection at Paris Fashion Week—a stage reserved for some of the world’s most recognized faces in fashion. That same year, he also stepped into the acting world in a meaningful way, portraying his own father, Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders, in an episode of BMF, the acclaimed drama series on Starz.

Those experiences weren’t just one-off appearances; they were the beginnings of a career path outside of football, one that showcased his versatility and comfort in creative spaces like fashion, media, and entertainment. For Shilo, those avenues may no longer just be side projects they now look like his new full-time reality.

With his NFL journey cut short before it truly got off the ground, Shilo finds himself leaning back into those pursuits that had already been waiting for him. While his dream of making it big in professional football didn’t come to fruition and is effectively on indefinite pause, he’s hardly left without options.
