Per a report from 247Sports recruiting expert Dushawn London, Duke basketball coaches were among a large group of recent visitors to Melissa High School (Texas) to scout junior shooting guard.
According to London, other programs that have recently visited include BYU, Michigan, SMU, UCLA, Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, Maryland, and Baylor.
He is currently rated as a four-star prospect. Ranked No. 37 overall in the 2026 class on the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound sharpshooter — known for his confident ball-handling and ability to create his own shots on the perimeter — sits just 14 spots shy of five-star status.
As for the timing of his recruitment, it appears a commitment won’t be happening anytime soon.
“I’ll probably make my decision sometime before my senior year,” Austin Goosby told London in late November. “Until then, I’m just going to evaluate each school and see which ones keep building that family connection.”
At the same time, Duke’s 2026 offer list remains relatively small. The newest name among their targets, Brewster Academy (N.H.) four-star power forward Sebastian Wilkins, is now a strong candidate to reclassify to the 2025 class.

First-Year Duke Basketball Reserve Confirms 2025-26 Plans
Around this time last year, Cameron Sheffield committed to Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff. He joined the Blue Devils as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility left, following three seasons as a key rotation player at Rice — including a full-time starting role in 2022-23 — before missing the 2023-24 season because of an injury.
While Sheffield mostly played limited minutes at the end of Duke’s bench last season, he clearly earned the respect of the coaching staff and his teammates through his selfless approach and versatility during practices.
Now, he’s preparing to return to Durham for another season.
In response to a fan comment on Instagram this week, the 6-foot-6, 204-pound guard/forward from Alpharetta, Ga., confirmed he is fully committed to coming back for his final year of eligibility.
Sheffield saw action in 13 games during the 2024-25 season, recording five points, five rebounds, and two assists in a total of 30 minutes on the court.
Looking ahead, Duke basketball currently has nine players, including Cameron Sheffield, committed to the 2025-26 roster. The others are Isaiah Evans, Caleb Foster, Patrick Ngongba II, Maliq Brown, Darren Harris, Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, and Nikolas Khamenia.
