The Sacramento Kings are reportedly considering trade options for veteran star this offseason, according to Jake Fischer in a recent Stein Line update.
“Attention in Sacramento now turns to the potential moves under the team’s new leadership. Since Scott Perry took over as general manager, there’s been growing speculation that the Kings will explore trade possibilities for veteran wing.”
DeRozan arrived in Sacramento via a three-team trade in July 2024, which sent Harrison Barnes to the San Antonio Spurs. He is set to earn $24 million in the 2025-26 season and $25 million in 2026-27.

Trading DeRozan could be a logical step if the Kings intend to keep Zach LaVine and/or Malik Monk, to avoid a crowded rotation of ball-dominant players. It would also allow the offense to flow more through Domantas Sabonis and create more scoring opportunities for Keegan Murray, who is still developing. Ultimately, parting ways with DeRozan may benefit both sides—giving Sacramento more roster flexibility and giving DeRozan a chance to join a team with stronger playoff aspirations at this stage of his career.
