Breaking News: Kirby Smart Confirms Another Groundbreaking Recruit For Highly Sought-after Star

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs are actively pursuing a potential transfer addition ahead of the 2025 college football season. Known for being highly selective in the transfer portal, Georgia typically focuses on building through high school recruiting—evidenced by their nine consecutive top-five recruiting classes. When the Bulldogs do target a transfer, it’s usually to address a specific roster need.

That makes Alabama A&M defensive lineman a particularly compelling prospect. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound lineman is currently visiting Georgia after entering the portal on March 23. As a true freshman last season, Smith recorded 20 tackles (3.5 for loss) and two sacks in 11 games. Though he was an unranked recruit coming out of South Atlanta High School in the 2024 class, his development at Alabama A&M hasn’t gone unnoticed by Georgia’s staff—especially defensive line coach Tray Scott, who appears to have been monitoring his progress closely.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong, Georgia is projected to land Alabama A&M transfer Sedrick Smith. The Bulldogs are looking to replenish depth along the defensive line after losing five starters this offseason, including standout interior linemen Nazir Stackhouse and Warren Brinson. Smith would provide much-needed reinforcements up front.

Georgia is also set to host two more notable transfer targets this weekend—Army’s Elo Modozie and North Carolina’s Beau Atkinson. Both are highly regarded edge rushers in the spring transfer window and would address another key position of need for the Bulldogs. The spring transfer portal remains open from April 16–25.

Fresh off their SEC Championship, Georgia wrapped up spring practice last weekend and will kick off the 2025 season at home against Marshall on August 30.
