Texas isn’t just stacking wins on the field, it’s building momentum for the future, and the Longhorns just sent another loud message on the recruiting trail. Fresh off locking in a dominant 2026 high school class ranked No. 3 nationally, Texas is already turning heads with its 2027 group. The latest addition only strengthens the belief that the program’s pipeline of talent is far from slowing down.

The Longhorns have landed a key in-state pledge, securing a commitment from quarterback of Spring Branch, located about 45 minutes north of San Antonio. Knutson made his decision public on Saturday in an announcement shared with On3’s Hayes Fawcett, giving Texas another important building block at one of the most critical positions on the field.
Knutson has been on the radar of several programs across the region, holding offers from Houston, North Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and TCU, among others. While Texas did not officially extend an offer until January 17 during one of its Junior Days, the relationship had been developing for months. Knutson had already taken multiple unofficial visits to Austin, including game-day trips for matchups against Vanderbilt and Arkansas in November, allowing him to get a true feel for the program, the atmosphere and the direction of the offense.

As his recruitment progressed, Knutson narrowed his focus to a smaller group of finalists, with Oklahoma State and South Carolina emerging as serious contenders. In the end, however, Texas’ vision, familiarity and growing momentum proved too strong to pass up, sealing his decision to stay home and wear burnt orange.
With Knutson’s pledge, Texas now has six commitments in its 2027 recruiting class. The group is already highlighted by four-star New Orleans wide receiver Easton Royal, who ranks as the nation’s No. 24 overall prospect. According to 247Sports, the Longhorns’ 2027 class currently sits at No. 10 nationally, a strong early position that suggests Texas is once again laying the foundation for sustained success well into the future.
